Paulina Camacho Valencia is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and scholar. Paulina found a home on the south side of Chicago after she and her family immigrated from central Mexico. Growing up on the south side provided a wide range of diverse experiences that offered a strong foundation for her artistic inquiry and social practice. Having received her Master of Arts in Teaching in 2012 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago Paulina joined the visual arts staff at Benito Juarez Community Academy where she served as the chair of the visual and performing arts department in addition to facilitating classes for students grades 9 through 12. Paulina is a member of the Chicago ACT Collective and one of many organizers of the annual music festival Villapalooza. Paulina is currently a second-year doctoral student in the Art Education program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
